HE is the hottest property on the Irish music scene and he is heading towards Hampshire.

Nathan Carter and his band bring The Wanna Dance Tour to Eastleigh’s Concorde Club on Sunday as part of a ten date UK tour.

The 26-year-old singer was born in Liverpool and like so many in the seaport Nathan’s family held firm their Irish connections.

Nathan has become a singing sensation, captivating audiences all over Ireland, the United Kingdom and beyond since he burst onto the scene in 2009.

He has recorded a series of studio and live albums, two DVDs and a host of singles. Nathan’s latest album is Stayin Up All Night.

His first love is to perform on stage and he is thrilled to be on tour, which has its grand finale at the London Palladium on May 28.

Nathan spoke to Duncan Eaton ahead of his spectacular stage show at Eastleigh.

Q: YOU ARE DOING A MINI TOUR OF THE UK. WHAT CAN AUDIENCES EXPECT TO SEE IN THE WANNA DANCE TOUR?

A: Yes, I'm looking forward to it ! It will be a mix of country / ballads /rock ‘n roll, Irish trad music , and hopefully something for everyone .

Q: DO YOU ENJOY TOURING AND HOW MANY COUNTRIES HAVE YOU PERFORMED IN?

A: I've toured Ireland and England and Scotland extensively, and I've also played some shows in USA, France and Australia.

Q: WHAT SORT OF VENUES DO ENJOY PLAYING?

A: I love the concerts and cabaret venues.

Q: CAN YOU REMEMBER YOUR FIRST PUBLIC APPEARANCE AND WHAT SONGS YOU SANG?

A: Yes, I remember my first song on stage in Donegal in Ireland. It was Caledonia and I still sing it every night.

Q: DO YOU COME FROM A LONG LINE OF IRISH MUSICIANS?

A: Not really. My grandad played the fiddle, but my parents don’t play any instruments.

Q: HOW MANY INSTRUMENTS DO YOU PLAY AND WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE?

A: I play accordion, piano and guitar, but my favourite is definitely the accordion.

Q: HOW BIG IS THE IRISH MUSIC SCENE AND WHAT ARE THE AGE GROUP OF AUDIENCES?

A: The Irish music scene is huge , and in my case I have fans from aged eight to 80 yrs , so that’s great !

Q: DO YOU LIVE IN IRELAND AND WITH ALL YOUR TOURING COMMITMENTS DO YOU GET MUCH TIME TO GO HOME?

A: I live in Enniskillen but to be honest I`m constantly on the road. But I love to get home to Liverpool once a month if I can.

Q: LIVERPOOL WAS YOUR CITY OF BIRTH AND THE ORIGIN OF THE FAMOUS MERSEY SOUND INCLUDING STARS LIKE THE BEATLES. DO YOU ENJOY MUSIC FROM THAT ERA?

A: Yes, I love the Beatles music, great songs, great music.

Q: DO YOU HAVE ANY MUSICAL HEROES?

A: I like a lot of artistes , but I think Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley are great, Garth Brooks and Michael Buble too.

Q: WHAT IS THE SONG THAT MEANS THE MOST TO YOU?

A: Caledonia is my favourite song

Q: DO YOU WRITE ANY OF YOUR MATERIAL?

A: Yes. I’ve begun to write several songs on my last few albums and I`m loving it !

Q: YOU WERE ASKED TO SUPPORT COUNTRY LEGEND GARTH BROOKS WHICH MUST HAVE BEEN A GREAT HONOUR. SADLY THE SHOW WAS CANCELLED. DO YOU HOPE THAT ONE DAYYOU CAN SHARE STAGE WITH GARTH?

A: I would love to. You never know may be one day it might happen.

Q: ANY UNFULFILLED AMBITIONS?

A: I just love doing what I am doing and I guess I`d like to bring my music to as many parts of the world as possible. Right now I am in the middle of a UK tour , which is great , and I`m meeting many new friends along the way on this trip.
