WINCHESTER Hockey Club was originally founded in 1981 as Winchester Hockey and Bandy Club, playing their home matches at Bar End.

Their kit colours of black and gold were first introduced in 1966.

In 1982 the Winchester Sports Association was founded in order to provide joint facilities, including a clubhouse at North Walls.

By 1991 matches were played on the Astro-Turf pitch at Perrins School, New Alresford.

Since 2004, the club have mostly played at Kings School, Winchester, although some matches have taken place on the artificial pitch at Thornden School, Chandler Ford.

During the club's existence, it has grown in terms of the teams who represent it. Winchester Hockey Club currently has nine senior teams, ten junior teams and four ladies teams.
