It was a yearly event for Southampton Hospital, one which saw local resident flocking to the streets to catch a glimpse of the colourful passing floats.
On July 10, 1926, hundreds took part in Southampton Hospital carnival - some donning colours of the union jack, some in traditional dress from abroad, and some in historical garb.
It’s not often people see boats or ships on the roads - but those out that day got to see both.
The British Sailors Society Sea Cadets’ float was a traditional sailboat on wheels, whilst the Southern Railway had a model of the SS Ringwood on display.
Thornycroft’s jazz band reportedly enjoyed themselves whilst entertaining the crowds, and the Primitive Methodist Band of Hope also seemed to have a joyous time.
Money raised from the carnival went towards a hospital extension fund.
