THEY’RE Hampshire’s only inclusive rugby team and now they’ll be scrumming together for a Southampton event.

The Wessex Wyverns will be tackling issues – and each other – as they raise money for the

second annual Southampton Pride.

The club – which currently has 60 players training at Millbrook Rugby Football Club – will play a fancy dress inter-club rugby match this weekend in aid of the August bank holiday event.

And anyone is welcome to “play with their balls” at the “give it a try” session before the match from 12pm.

Social secretary Lee Barker said: “We went to Pride last year and thought it was such a great event that we wanted to get involved this year.”

After the match they will be heading for drinks and a raffle at West Marlands Road venue The Stage Door, before heading to The Edge and The Box Bar for an after party from 11pm.

The day long fundraiser will take place on June 10 from 12pm. All donations will go towards the Southampton Pride 2017 event, which is set to take place on August 26 at Guildhall Square.

Pride organisers say they need to raise £5,000 to put on the one day event, which is sponsored by Cunard and which last year saw thousands of people attend the first ever event.
