FIREFIGHTERS were called after a blaze at a Southampton restaurant.

The fire broke out at Scoozi in Oxford Street at about 12.26pm yesterday and is believed to have started in a pizza oven and its ducting.

Two engines from St Mary's station and one from Redbridge station were called to the scene and firefighters used a hose reel jet and breathing apparatus to put out the fire.

Everyone had already been evacuated from the building and there were no reports of any injuries.

It is believed that the restaurant may now be closed until next week due to the incident.

Restaurant manager Jimmy Ndoci said: "Thankfully everyone is safe. But hopefully in the next week or so it will be back to normal."
