IT is the traditional end to a year of learning at one Hampshire secondary school.

Pupils at Noadswood School in Dibden Purlieu, took to the track to pit their athletic prowess against each other in their annual sports day.

With the four houses - named after local areas Anderwood, Wilverley, Knightwood and Deerleap - competing against each other, it was a final attempt to go for gold and take hold of the coveted school Sports Cup.

With track and field events as well as a ‘happy hour’ involving space hopper racing, teachers in stocks, and inflatables the event was set off with an Olympic style opening ceremony with each house parading their banner.

Head of PE Terry Shearsmith said: “The kids compete against each other and individually as well.

“And we are a very inclusive school - we have had wheelchair basketball and always try to get all children involved in everything.

“Last week we had boys and girls touch rugby, rounders, and cricket.”

This year’s sports winners were Deerleap House.
