SOUTHAMPTON University have won their first-round tie in BBC's University Challenge.
The students took on the University of Cardiff, winning by 280 points to 40.
The team consists of Lorna Frankel, studying natural sciences; Niall Jones, studying English; Andy Knighton, studying medicine; and Paulo Ledesma, also studying medicine.
More than 100 university applied to take part in this year's competition, with the University of Southampton successfully navigated the auditions to reach the last 28.
It is not yet known who they will face in the last 16.
