A RAPE investigation has been launched after a late-night incident in a Southampton park.
Police were called to Houndwell Park after reports that a distressed teenage girl had been found.
Officers cordoned off the scene following the incident, which happened at about 5.30am on Saturday, and have confirmed that it is being treated as a rape investigation.
Two men, aged 21 and 22, have been arrested in connection with the incident.
Detective Inspector Roger Wood said: "Enquiries are still on-going to establish exactly what has happened, but at this time we would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed an offence in the Houndwell Park area between the late hours of Friday evening, 25 August, and the early hours of Saturday morning.
"Did you see a group of young men and girls in the area at this time, or anyone acting suspiciously?
"If you were in this area then please get in touch as even the smallest detail could prove vital."
