EMERGENCY gas works have forced the closure of a major Hampshire commuter route today.
Maintenance work on the A326 Applemore Hill in Dibden Purlieu began this morning, forcing the closure of one lane of the carriageway.

But now it is reported that the road will shut completely at 2.30pm to allow for the work to continue.
It is not known how long the route will be closed for.
An SGN statement says: "It is too early to estimate when our work will be completed but we will update you on our progress."
