HUNDREDS of children across Hampshire wore their best pyjamas to dance in in support of this year’s Children in Need appeal.

Youngsters from across Starz Ballet’s four regions in Southampton, Winchester and Romsey, Fareham and Gospor, all got involved by moving and shaking in their bed wear.

Parents also got involved by joining their children for a boogie in their PJs.

The youngsters took part as the country gears up for national Children in Need Day today.

Each year Starz Ballet, which was set up five years ago by friends Cheryl Dodd and Lianne Weston-Mommsen, helps raise money for Children in Need.

The classes are aimed at children aged anywhere between six months to seven years old and are taught by highly trained teachers.

With pupils donating as much or as little as they can, as well as any old one pound coins, the group hopes to have broken the £500 mark by the end of its fundraising week.

Cheryl said: “The children and parents have loved it so much. They have all been dressing up in their pyjamas, Pudsey tops and really getting involved.“Children are so vulnerable and we work with children on a daily basis so we understand how difficult it can be for some children. We like to support them to emphasise our commitment to them. It’s a charity close to our hearts.

“Most of the teachers have children so we have a natural affinity to Children in Need.”
