TWO men spent a night running around Ikea jumping from the rafters after the shop was closed.

Managers at the Ikea store on West Quay Road said they are “testing tools” to help prevent further incidents happening after the incident, which was filmed and shared on social media.

And they say they “do not condone” the stunts pulled by Southampton resident Ally Law, who admitted he “can’t believe we got away with it”.

In the video he and a friend - known only as Ben - enter the store minutes before closing and hide under a double bed.

They then wander the store, telling unsuspecting Ikea workers that they are there to photograph products for social media, before piling up a stack of mattresses and jumping on them from the rafters in the roof.

Salma Azad, Ikea Southampton store manager, said: “We appreciate that people are interested in Ikea and want to create fun experiences with us.

"However safety and security for our co-workers, customers and anyone visiting our stores is the highest priority for us at Ikea.

"We cannot guarantee the safety of members of the public in our stores after closing hours.

"We do not condone this type of activity which represents a high risk for the individuals involved.

“We have security measures, routines and systems in place in all of our stores, at all times.

"We are testing tools to better prevent these incidents from happening in the future.”
