A DRIVER has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash on the M3 this morning.

The two-car collision occurred at 6.06am this morning between junction 10-11 on the northbound side of the busy motorway.

Police say four people were injured, one seriously, who was taken to Southampton General Hospital.

The crash, which closed one lane, was cleared by 8am

As a result, motorists faced delays of up to 45 minutes.

Delays of up to an hour were in place on the northbound carriageway earlier this morning, with one lane of the M3 closed.

However all lanes are now open and the traffic is said to be easing.

Traffic bosses are warning of delays on surrounding roads including the M27 link roads.

Drivers are being advised to avoid the B3354 from Fair Oak, with delays of up to 90 minutes still in place.
