A MAN extradited from India has been charged with the kidnap, rape and murder of Hannah Foster.

Maninder Pal Singh Kohli returned to the UK last night, in the custody of Hampshire detectives who had flown to Delhi once his extradition was secured.

The 39-year-old former sandwich delivery driver also faces charges of manslaughter, false imprisonment and perverting public justice.

He was charged by officers working on the Operation Springfield team at 3.18am today, having arrived at Alton police station shortly after 8.15pm last night.

It brings to an end a long extradition process - the first ever to the UK from India - which followed the death of Hannah in 2003.

Kohli will appear before Southampton Magistrates Court tomorrow.
