There were just seconds in it for the winner as Andy Gannaway from Winchester running club pipped Ross Wayne to the post in the George Skeates Stockbridge Fun Run.

More than 150 runners and cyclists braved the cold for the annual charity race.

George Skeates waved the flag with grandchildren Ava, Haydon. George and Tilly giving him a hand.

The event saw participants make their way round a short three mile course and a longer eight mile route, with all funds raised going to the George Skeates Benevolent Fund – with beneficiaries including spinal charity Inspire and Wessex Heartbeat.

George Skeates was a British champion sidecar passenger who was paralysed during a race.

Organiser Jeremy Crossman said numbers were down from around 250 last year. He said: “We don’t want to be the London marathon but we can definitely do 250 – and we’ll be doing all we can to get numbers up again for next year.”
