A HOUSE was burgled while the elderly owner was inside.
The incident happened on Middlebridge Street in Romsey between 3.30pm and 4.30pm on Monday.
Access was gained via an insecure front door while the occupant, an elderly woman, was at home.
A search of the bedrooms was carried out and various items of jewellery was stolen as well as a purse.
The victim later noticed muddy footsteps on the stairs which led to her discover she had been burgled.
PC Charles Buckingham, said: “Around £600 worth of jewellery was stolen during this incident and I am urging anyone with information to get in touch.
“We’d like to speak to anyone who may have seen anyone in the area acting suspiciously as the time of the incident.
“As always, we would remind residents to be vigilant and ensure their property is secure.”
Three boys, aged 16, 15 and 12, from Totton, have been arrested in connection with the incident and are currently in police custody.
