AN INVESTIGATION has been launched following a spate of burglaries in the Eastleigh borough.

Burglars targeted homes in Chandler's Ford and Fair Oak between February 16 and 26.

Hampshire Police said the houses were targeted during the day and the evening with entry gained through back doors or windows.

Jewellery and cash were stolen and safes were targeted.

Officers said the incidents happened in Osborne Drive, Bournemouth Road, Hiltingbury Road, Cox Row, Beech Close, Hursley Road, Scantabout Avenue and Lake Road in Chandler's Ford.

Houses in Fair Oak were also targeted with Strawberry Mead and Pavillion Close being the areas most affected.

A 19-year-old man and a 25-year-old-man, both from Chandler’s Ford, were arrested in connection with the Beech Close burglary and they have been released under investigation.

Hampshire Police are now urging residents to be extra vigilant and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
