A MAN has died after a car hit a tree near a Hampshire road.
Police have launched an investigation into the crash, which left a 26-year-old man from Romsey dead at the scene.
Emergency services were called to the A3090 in Hursley at about 5.20am this morning to reports that a silver Ford KA had crashed into a tree at the side of the road.
Sergeant Rebecca Hodge, from the Joint Roads Policing Unit, said: "We are working hard to establish exactly what happened.
"At this stage we do not know what time the collision happened, so we want to hear from anyone who drove along that road in the early hours of this morning, between 2.30am and 5.20am.
"Even if you don’t think you saw anything, please call us as your information could assist with the investigation.
"We are keen to speak to anyone who did that journey and has dash cam footage, as this could help us to narrow down the time of the incident."
The man's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Anyone with information can contact police on 101, quoting incident number 88, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
