PLANS to build a new livestock building at a farm in Hursley have been approved.

The proposals, for Pitt Down Farm in Farley Mount Road, will now see a 1,448sqm building erected to house pigs at the site, following the removal of their shallow huts.

In a planning statement, agent BCM said the plan "not only increases the efficiency of the farming practices, but will also increase the welfare of the livestock".

The farm has been established for over ten years and consists of two farmhouses and two agricultural buildings used for the housing of livestock and farming equipment.

Winchester City Council planning officers received no objections.
