PET owners up and down the county are celebrating National Pet Month this April.

As part of the celebration of furry friends, Cats Protection is inviting New Forest and Southampton residents to hold tea parties to help the cats in the area.

The charity, which has outlets in the city and in Totton, launched the event last year, and say it was met with an ‘enthusiastic response’.

Now, it is hoping cat lovers will sign up to help raise thousands of pounds for unwanted cats in the care of Cats Protection.

Abi Young, the charity’s mass participation officer, said: “It’s a wonderful excuse to enjoy some quality time with loved ones to enjoy tea, cake and a chat while raising funds for unwanted cats.

“We have created some tutorial videos to help think of cat-themed goodies to bake, but I’m sure there will be many more delicious creations produced.”

On top of the branches in Southampton and Totton, it has more than 250 volunteer-run outlets across the country.

The charity helps around 190,000 cats each year.
