ST MARY'S Stadium in Southampton, hosts the second Opportunity Meets Talent event on April 26.

It will will see some of the region’s top businesses, educators and students coming together with the aim of matching talented students to real career opportunities.

The event is organised by Business South, and sponsored by Southampton Solent University, Old Mutual Wealth and Willmott Dixon,.

Last year more than 900 jobs and apprenticeships were being promoted to the 600 students visited on the day.

Students from the South’s colleges and universities are invited to register for free to attend on the day, giving them a unique opportunity to meet with potential new employers including: Hampshire Fire & Rescue, Southern Co-op and South Western Railway.

Colleges and universities will also be on hand to offer their expertise about apprenticeships and further and higher education.

The event also offers a programme of Insight Into Talks, providing students with in depth information into career opportunities in niche sectors relevant to the region including: travel and tourism, leisure and hospitality, maritime and shipping, professional services and construction and regeneration.

Trudy McKenzie, careers advisor at Eastleigh College, said: 'The Opportunity Meets Talent event provides rare and invaluable opportunity for students to meet directly with employers offering some exciting career prospects. Employers on the day will be recruiting for entry level, graduate, internship and degree apprenticeship opportunities. I would encourage students from across the region to attend, to showcase yourself to employers, share your CV, gain industry knowledge through the Insight Into Talks and workshops and receive expert careers advice, all in one venue and on one day. Attendees can expect to come away with a confidence in knowing how to pursue their chosen career ideas and an awareness of the opportunities available, locally.’

Opportunity meets Talent runs from 10aml until 4pm. Students can register to attend for free at
