POLICE are investigating an attempted robbery at a convenience store in Southampton.
The incident occurred at the One Stop store in Kendal Avenue, Millbrook, as staff were opening up at just before 6am.
Employees are understood to have been confronted by a would-be thief.
Customers waiting outside just before 8am were told there had been an "incident" at that the shop was unlikely to open for two or three hours.
A police forensics officer arrived at about the same time as part of the investigation.
A police spokesman said: “We were called at 5.47am this morning to an attempted robbery at a shop on Kendal Avenue, Millbrook.
"Staff had been approached by a group of youths as they went to open the store.
"They made demands but made of empty handed.
"This is currently under investigation and anyone with information is urged to contact us on 101."
