GET ready to rock!

Southampton's retro music festival Let's Rock returns to the city today for its fifth consecutive year.

And the running order has been released by organisers this morning.

Thousands of party revellers are expected to descend on the Common for a day of music, merriment and nostalgia as 80's chart-toppers take to the stage from 12 noon.

And after England qualified for the World Cup quarter finals to play Sweden today organisers have arranged for a large screen to be erected on site where football fans attending the festival can watch the game.

There will also be an extra bar near by so no one need miss out on the football action that kicks off at 3pm.

Set to be a scorcher with temperatures forecast to hit 30C, this family-friendly festival looks set to be as hot as the weather with its stellar line-up headlined by New Wave legend Adam Ant.

Other star performers include:Sister Sledge, ABC, Midge Ure, Go West, Kim Appleby, Aswad, Snap! Heather Small, The Blockheads and Transvision Vamp’s Wendy James.

The action-packed one-day musical extravaganza will also feature The Smash Hits Party Live: Hazel Dean, Fuzzbox, Bow Wow Wow’s Annabella, Brother Beyond, Peter Coyle ex Lotus Eaters and Black Lace’s Conga Party.

Once again Let’s Rock will be hosted by Pat Sharp and Dave Benson Phillips presenting the best sounds of the ‘80s and ‘90s, and an action-packed day of madness from the decades that fashion forgot.

Party-goers will be donning their neon fancy dress and 80'-inspired fashions for a fun-packed day. You can bring your own picnics and sealed 500ml bottles of water but no alcohol. There are bars and a wide variety of food and drink available to buy on site.

Organiser Steve Haywood told the Daily Echo: “We have no choice but to screen the match otherwise quite a few thousand wouldn’t turn up until after 6pm when it had finished – and after they had probably had a few drinks too. We realised that this might happen but it has been a bit of a rush to get it all organised in time.

“We don’t think the game will stop people from coming – not for the sake of a 90 minute football match. We are expecting around 10,000 people to attend – our normal numbers.

“The football screen will be in the far corner well away from the main stage. Obviously we will need some sound to it but it will be far enough away and won’t affect what’s happening on the main stage. People don’t have to worry about it and we will be putting an extra bar in next to it too.”

The running order is:

- Go West

- SNAP!

- Aswad

- Retrobates Party Live (Hazell Dean, Fuzzbox, Peter Coyle ex Lotus Eaters, Bow Wow Wow's Annabella, Brother Beyond)

- Black Lace's Conga Party

- Pat Sharp DJ set

New for this year, the show will end with a spectacular firework finale at 10.30pm.
