THEY are the comedy couple who gained an army of fans with their side-splitting comments about some of the TV shows they watched.

Guesthouse owners Stephanie and Dominic Parker shot to fame on Channel 4's Gogglebox, the award-winning programme in which viewers are filmed in their own homes as they pass judgement on the world of television.

Now the popular pair, known as Steph and Dom, have agreed to open this year's Beaulieu Village Fete on July 21.

People appearing on Gogglebox are filmed in their own homes using a pair of small, remote-controlled cameras.

A Beaulieu spokesman said: "The couple have become household names as a result of their witty comments on the show, which they filmed from their guesthouse sofa.

"Channel 4 later gave them their own series, Steph and Dom’s One to Five Star, in which they helped give small hotels a makeover.

"Lord Montagu will welcome the celebrity couple on the lawns of Palace House."

The Kent-based pair made their TV debut on Channel 4's Four in a Bed, in which the owners of hotels and guesthouses were asked to rate each other's establishments. Their successful contribution to the show led to an invitation to appear on Gogglebox.

Steph and Dom have been married for 20 years and have two children.

Earlier this year Steph said: "When we first got together in 1996 our friends called us the Steph And Dom Show because there’s a very natural flow to our relationship.

"Dom is the other half of me – I don’t know where I finish and he starts, so we never argue.

"We’ve spent the last 20 years very much in each other’s pockets because we live and run a business together.

"Even when we’re not together we’ll always have a diary meeting at some point in the day to discuss who’ll reply to what email and who’ll get more loo rolls."

People attending the fete are invited to dress up as characters from nursery rhymes - this year's theme.

Attractions will include music by the Beaulieu Band, plus performances by Waterside Square Dance Club and the Hythe-based Dancewise Studios. Children from Beaulieu Village Primary School will give a display of maypole dancing.

The fete has a history of attracting TV celebrities.

In 2015 the event was opened by broadcaster Dan Snow, who lives nearby. The following year it was the turn of EastEnders star Stefan Booth.
