A HAMPSHIRE brewery will be unveiling its latest beer at a summer fair this weekend staged as part of the county’s food festival which has been running throughout July.

Upham’ Brewery’s UB5 will be star of the show at the event held at the Mill at Gordleton, near Lymington on Saturday and Sunday.

The new brew is unusual as it is neither an ale or a lager.

David Butcher, director at Upham Pub Company, said: “The growth in new craft beers has been exceptional and we wanted to give our customers something brewed in Hampshire to rival the new trends in brewing.

“The new UB5 is brewed with five hops, five malts, is five per cent, fermented for five weeks and served at five degrees. The beer divides the line between cask ale and lager and its strong combination of flavours is appealing to a new market of customers.”

The Gordleton fair comes under the Hampshire Food Festival umbrella.

Upham has worked alongside festival organisers Hampshire Fare for five years.

Chris Phillips, CEO of Upham Pub Company commented: “Local ingredients, local employment and the local community are all key to our business. Working closely with Hampshire Fare has supported these elements of our business plan and we are delighted to be able to give back to the organisation and the other members through corporate sponsorship.”

Upham Group has expanded rapidly over the past five years and now has sixteen pubs predominantly across Hampshire which include The Hawk Inn in Amport, The Peat Spade in Longstock, The White Hart in Overton, The Running Horse in Littleton and The Thomas Lord in West Meon.

Several of these locations have undergone recent refurbishment and expansion. The Thomas Lord now boasts luxury outdoor guest cabins whilst The Mill at Gordleton has developed its event space and new orangery to expand the dining room.

The summer fair is free to enter and is open from 11am-4pm on both days.
