A SECOND public consultation on Eastleigh Local Plan is to be held in Chandler’s Ford – after many said they were not informed of the first, held at the start of July.

A drop-in session was held at Fryern Pavilion on July 2 but opposition councillors said residents received a letter from the council to inform them about the event on July 3 and 4.

The council said the main purpose of the letter was to make people aware of the development associated with the Local Plan and that details of the drop-in sessions were previously promoted.

Now a second drop-in session is to take place at Fryern Pavilion on Monday, July 30 from 4pm to 7pm.

Conservative leader Judith Grajewski, pictured, said: “When residents started contacting me to complain about this, I asked borough council officers for a further drop-in session to be arranged locally, with adequate notice, so that residents could attend. I’m pleased to say that, this time the council has listened. If adopted, this Local Plan (2016-2036) will affect everyone in the borough so it’s only right that all residents are afforded the same opportunity to look at it and comment.”

A council spokesperson said: “The main purpose of the Local Plan letter was to make people aware of the various proposed and current developments associated with the Local Plan and also to remind people about their opportunity to comment before August 6.

“Details of the drop in sessions had been previously promoted in our Borough News, E-news, on our website and out via the media together with posters in local libraries and parish and town councils. It is also important to note that residents could attend any of the drop in events as they not specific to any area.”
