A PENSIONER sustained serious facial injuries in an attack after disturbing a robber in his brother's home.

The man, who is in his 70s, was checking on his sibling's unoccupied home on Botley Road, Swanwick, when he found another male inside.

The victim was then assaulted and had his mobile and wallet stolen, between 2.30pm and 3pm on Friday, July 27.

Hampshire Constabulary said it is believed the suspect then went into a field next to Botley Road between the M27 and Rookery Avenue.

The victim sustained serious facial injuries and was treated at Southampton General Hospital.

The suspect is described as:

  • White

  • Late 30s / early 40s

  • 5ft 8ins tall

  • Slim build

  • Dark blonde hair, messy style

  • Local accent

  • Wearing a medium blue t-shirt (ripped during altercation), blue denim jeans

  • Had two carrier bags that appeared empty (one bright yellow, one black)
