THIS is the efit of a suspect police are hunting after a man in 70s was seriously injured in a robbery.

Officers have released the image after a victim was attacked when he entered his brother's unoccupied home - only to find a stranger inside.

The intruder assaulted the victim and stole his mobile phone and wallet, before running away into a nearby field.

The victim sustained serious facial injuries and was treated at Southampton General Hospital.

Police say the incident took place at a home in Botley Road, Swanwick, between 2.30pm and 3pm on Friday, July 27.

It is believed the suspect went into a field next to Botley Road between the M27 and Rookery Avenue.

Police had previously appealed for infomration about the incident.

Now officers have released an e-fit image of the robber.

He is described as, white in his late 30s or early 40s, around 5ft 8ins tall, of a slim build, with dark blond and messy hair.

The man is described as having a local accent and was wearing a medium blue t-shirt (ripped during alteraction), blue denim jeans and had two carrier bags that appeared empty.

A 34 year-old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary as part of our enquiries.

He has been released from custody without charge, but remains under investigation. In addition a 32 year-old man has been interviewed under caution.
