A MAN who was found hanged at his West End home by his mother had suffered from mental health problems for years, an inquest heard.

Ian Dennison was discovered in the early hours of April 10, and despite attempts by a neighbour to revive him, he was declared dead at the scene in Quob Farm Close.

Winchester Coroner’s Court heard that the 49-year-old had suffered with his mental health since the age of 15, and his estranged wife Joanne told the inquest that Mr Dennison not sought the help he needed.

The inquest heard that Mr Dennison had been looking after his mother, who has dementia, which senior coroner Graham Short said added to his problems.

It also heard that no suicide note was found, but Mr Dennison had left a piece of paper containing the lyrics to a George Michael’s song.

However, recording a conclusion of suicide, Mr Short said he could not be sure when Mr Dennison had written the lyrics down.
