FIREFIGHTERS tackled a car fire on the M27 this morning (August 7).

The vehicle caught fire on the westbound carriageway on the slip-road to junction 5, for Eastleigh.

Firefighters from St Mary's and Eastleigh rushed to incident, which began around 10am.

The fire was extinguished around 10.30am.

The car has since been moved onto the hard shoulder and is awaiting recovery.

One lane of the slip-road was closed during the incident, but traffic bosses say there were no reports of delays.
