FRIENDS and family of a much-loved primary school teacher and dancer who died 10 years ago attended a garden party in her memory to raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust.

Bonnie Wilson, who grew up in Winchester and attended the Florian School of Dance from the age of eight, died of cancer aged 23 in July 2008.

Friends from her dance classes, school, college and university, many now with children of their own, were reunited to remember happy times and catch up on their lives in the intervening years.

The “Mad Hatter Tea Party” theme was inspired by a scene from a Florian dance show in which she appeared as the March Hare. Her friend Holly Silk, in whose parents’ garden the event was held, on Andover Road, was the Mad Hatter.

Francesca Perry, who planned the event with Holly, dance teacher Annette FitzGerald and Bonnie’s mum Jill, of King Alfred Place, said: “We had a wonderful time celebrating Bonnie and at the same time raising funds for Teenage Cancer Trust as she did herself during her illness.”

The event has so far raised nearly £1,500 and more donations can be made via https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/CelebratingBonnie.
