OLYMPIC diving sensation Pete Waterfield took the plunge of an altogether different type today.

The Southampton diver tied the knot with long-term girlfriend Tania Graves at Holy Trinity Church in Millbrook.

The couple's six-year-old son Lewis waspageboy during the service, which they have planned as a quiet family event.

Afterwards Pete and Tania enjoyed a reception with family and friends at a local hotel to celebrate their big day.

The couple met seven years ago at the Quays Swimming and Diving Complex, where 26-year-old Pete trains.

He said: "I met Tania when she was watching her younger sister dive, and I proposed on her 18th birthday."

Pete shot to fame by winning Britain's first medal of the Athens Olympics in the synchronised ten metre diving event three years ago.
