SO THE bank of England has given the all-clear to scrap 1p and 2p coins.

If this goes ahead, loads of charities will miss out, as many fast-food chains and coffee shops, etc, usually have a charity pot on the counter full of coppers.

Also, what about the coin shove machines in arcades? They will all have to go, and there are people like me who save them to top up their bank accounts to go towards the bills or some top up their savings, every few months or so I pay around £20 into my account – it helps with the bills.

I read somewhere that other countries who have scrapped them still price things at 1.99 but round it up at the till so two items at £1.99 coming to £3.98 gets rounded up to £4. Fair enough, that doesn’t sound a lot to the individual but would that not work out extra profit for the companies when you think of all the millions of customers they’ll be doing this to?
