AN EVENT is set to take place in Hampshire to share information on the best practice for the self build sector.

The Right to Build event is set to take place today at Ferneham Hall in Fareham from 9am until 5pm.

The event will offer an opportunity to showcase what building developments are taking place in Fareham, as well as support stakeholders who are pursuing their own housing ambitions.

Michael Holmes, the chairman of National Custom and Self Build Association said: "We welcome Fareham Borough Councils work with The Right to Build Task Force, exploring all opportunities to bring forward more land to help the local community meet its own housing needs, whilst also supporting the local builders who will be involved in constructing the new homes."

Home builders, architects, designers, landowners, local authorities and community groups are all encouraged to attend.

The event will be hosted by leader of Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Seán Woodward and architectural designer and tv presenter Charlie Luxton will also be sharing his self build experiences.

The exhibition is part of the National Custom and Self Build Association's work to double the sectors contribution to homes built annually, taking it to 16 per cent by 2020.

The event will be brought to the community by National Custom and Self Build Association , the Right to Build Task Force and Wood for Good.

Tickets cost £40 and are free of charge for registered community groups, current members of the NaCSBA, and supporters of Wood for Good.

Numerous talks and master-classes will take place throughout the day and tickets and details of the itinerary can be found at www.eventbrite.co.uk.

Anyone considering custom or self-building should sign up to the self build register on the NaCSBA’s Right to Build Portal (www.righttobuildportal.org).
