Five were later released without charged, while Walden was charged with dangerous driving.

Appearing at Southampton Crown Court on Monday morning, Walden listened as the trial date was set for January 7 next year.

The crash reportedly place around 3.45am on July 19 and led police to close Weston Lane for several hours.

Officers cordoned off the road at junction with Wright’s Hill while carrying out an investigation.

"I saw a motorbike on the road and a car upside down. I could see a red light that was a fire brigade. There was one fire engine and police cars.”
