A HAMPSHIRE bar manager has contemplated shutting his bar after a third break-in took place in Totton.

The Game On Sports Lounge at The West Totton Centre was broken in to in the early hours of September 8.

Two masked men broke into the building with a crowbar and stole the safe which contained £1,500.

This is the third break-in at the sports lounge in the past year.

More than £7,500 has been stolen in total over the three attacks.

Godfrey Cook, 43, the bar manager at the centre, described the situation as “gut wrenching” and told the Daily Echo that he has contemplated closing the bar permanently.

He said: “I watched the CCTV and it made me feel physically sick to see these guys walk out with the safe, on Saturday I really did contemplate packing this all in and walking away.”

The two men were masked and dressed completely in black.

One of them was also wearing white trainers; they entered and left the centre on foot.

Godfrey told the Echo that an evening of worship was

being held at the Trinity Church in Totton at around the time that the break in took place.

Godfrey said: “They completely obliterated the doors, it was horrible to watch them break in.

“I can’t believe this has happened again.”

He is asking anyone who attended the church that evening to remember if they saw these masked individuals between 3.45am and 4.15am.

A spokesperson from Hampshire police said: “A burglary took place at West Totton Community Centre on Hazel Farm Road between 11.30pm on September 7 and 7.57am on September 8.
