A SPATE of break-ins across a Southampton suburb has sparked a warning by police.

Officers are carrying out patrols and enquiries in Bassett after eight sheds, garages and outbuildings were broken into over the last three days.

Push bikes and tools are amongst the items that have been reported stolen.

The incidents have occurred at all times of the day and night.

Acting Inspector Brian Goodall from the Southampton North Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We are concerned that several high value bikes have been stolen. If you own a bike please ensure it is locked or anchored to an immovable point, even inside your shed, and use a D-Lock, anything less won’t do.

“The same goes for any other valuables you keep in your shed. Lock it to the ground so it can’t be moved.

“If you use Strava or ride tracking apps, make sure your privacy settings are changed so that your start and end point aren’t shared; this is clearly your home address and where you probably store your bike.

“If you see anyone acting suspiciously in this area, please call 101.”

Officers from Southampton North Neighbourhood Team have increased patrols in the area continue to urge residents to remain vigilant.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101.
