A TEENAGER has been killed after a crash on the A33 near Winchester last night.

Police have issued an appeal for information after the fatal collision involving a pedestrian and a Volkswagen Polo just after 11pm on Saturday on the A33 in Micheldever.

The victim, an 18-year-old from Overton, was taken to Southampton General Hospital, but pronounced dead shortly after he arrived.

Officers say the next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the Polo, an 18-year-old from Basingstoke, was not injured.

Sergeant Jonathan Bates said: "We know that there were a number of young people in the area at the time of the collision who were being dropped off for some sort of gathering in Micheldever Woods.

"We've spoken to a number of these people at the scene but would urge anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to an officer, to get in touch with us."
