FIVE friendly cats have been rehomed at a new cat cafe in Romsey.

Xena, Kiara, Lina, Nala and Krunchie will now live at Paws for Thought Cat Cafe, which is due to open on Church Street on October 1.

The first four kittens have been adopted by cafe owner Emma Blyth from Romanian rescue charity Every Life Counts.

Krunchie also needed to be rehomed due changes in her home life and will join the others in roaming throughout the new business and keep thirsty customers entertained.

Emma, 30, said: “The owner wanted Krunchie to go as soon as possible, yet she had no vaccinations, hadn’t been micro-chipped and hadn’t been spayed which really worried me, considering she was over a year old.

“These costs can put a lot of people off and could result in her being rehomed and not getting the correct care and treatments she needed.

“We understand that circumstances change all the time in a home, but we want to show people that there is so many things you can do or try before making the decision to re-home their pet.

“We are still looking for any cats that we feel would benefit from being rehomed with us at Paws For Thought cat cafe and we will have a comfy bed waiting for them whenever that may be.”

Once open, the cafe will host fundraisers for local cat rescue centres to generate money for the organisations.

The space will also act as a place where locals can reminisce about their pets which have passed away.

They will be encouraged to bring in snaps of their cats to share.

It will be a booking-only cafe to ensure control of the number of people coming in and out of the space in order to protect the safety of the cats.

Paws for Though has taken over the former Kit & Caboodle shop, which relocated to another site in the town.
