POLICE rushed to a Hampshire bank this afternoon in what is being described as a 'fraud' incident.

Officers attended Barclays Bank, on Commerical Road, Totton, after a man was asked to transfer money into a different account in "suspicious circumstances".

The incident happened between 11am-11.30am.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Constabulary said: "Police attended Barclays bank in Commercial Road, Totton, to make enquiries as part of a fraud investigation.

"A man had been asked to make a bank transfer in suspicious circumstances.

"Enquiries are on-going."

A Barclays spokesperson said: "The Banking Protocol allows us to work closely with the police to help protect victims and crackdown on fraudsters. 

"We continue to work hard to stay one step ahead of criminals and this is just one example of how we’re helping customers stay safe.”
