THE HUNT for a man who bit off the ear of a Hampshire father is still underway.

Ollie Lamacraft was assaulted by a man outside Southampton Central Station one weekend in August.

Police are still hunting the man, who fled the scene on Western Esplanade.

Becky Draper, Mr Lamacraft's long-term partner, said: "The police have said they are backed up at the moment.

"But they are running DNA tests on the ear and Ollie will contacted when they know anything."

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary commented: "There have been no arrests or charges at this stage.

"We would still appeal for anyone with information to come forward and will be actively following lines of enquiry to trace the person responsible."

The search comes after the 24-year-old was punched to the ground outside Southampton Central Station, knocking him unconscious for a few seconds just after midnight on August 25.

The Romsey scaffolder then had his head held to the ground as the attacker repeatedly punched him and smashed his head into the ground before he bit off a chunk of his ear.

The assault came just two weeks after Ollie had metal plates removed from his jaw following serious injuries after a car crash.

The accident happened in March, where he suffered several broken bones in his legs, severe injuries to his jaw and was left in a coma.

The father-of-one had been on his first night out since his accident and decided to make his way home at around 11:30pm after his leg began to ache.

The attack occurred after Ollie had been on the phone to his partner, as he walked from Switch nightclub on Above Bar Street, to Southampton Central Station.

Becky described listening to Ollie and another man have a conversation before the phone call ended but said "nothing seemed to be off."

Ollie explained that he did not recall there being any verbal disputes and described the conversation with the man as "happy and alright".

Just minutes after ending the call, he was knocked unconscious by the unknown attacker.
