THE Cowes floating bridge has been pulled from service this afternoon (Wednesday) following an accident involving a member of staff.
The 'Floatie Finder' website said the service had been suspended due to a medical emergency.
An Isle of Wight Council spokesperson said: "An ambulance is in attendance.
"A launch service is being provided for foot passengers.
"An update will be provided when service resumes."
UPDATED: 13.40 East Cowes firefighters are assisting paramedics on the lower level of the floating bridge. The casualty is understood to be stable.
A helicopter is reported to have landed at the Red Funnel terminal. It is understood a member was taken ill in the bridge's engine room.
