FOOD giant Heinz has bowed to the "will of the people" and decided against changing the name of its Salad Cream to Sandwich Cream.

Fans of the condiment made their outrage known in June when parent company Kraft Heinz announced that it was considering a name change for the first time in 104 years.

Heinz said research had found that just 14% of consumers actually used the

cream on salads, with most considering it to be an alternative to mayonnaise and pairing it with tuna, ham or cheese in sandwiches.

'RUNWAY RUNAWAY'

A man has appeared in court charged with criminal damage after allegedly

chasing a plane at Dublin airport because he had missed his flight.

Patrick Kehoe was arrested on Thursday morning after witnesses saw a man

tackled to the ground after shouting "wait" at the Ryanair flight as it taxied

to the runway.

Dublin's Criminal Courts of Justice heard how the 23-year-old from

Raheenaskeagh, Oulart, Co Wexford, allegedly broke through a magnetic door lock at Gate 106.

BREWING ROW

A Scottish craft brewer has pulled out of a project with an American beer maker after it reportedly offered free drinks to Donald Trump supporters in the UK.

BrewDog was to join with Atlanta-based Scofflaw Brewing for events in six of

its bars across England from Saturday.

But the Aberdeenshire-based company pulled out after the US firm apparently said it would give a free beer to anyone who said they were a fan of their country's president.

LANGUAGE LESSON

Poland's prime minister received an on-camera lesson in the Polish language from his education minister after making a grammatical mistake during an election speech.

Mateusz Morawiecki seemed startled but made no comment when the minister, a teacher of Polish, told him in front of the cameras during a weekly government session that his spoken Polish was faulty and corrected it.

Polish is gender sensitive and requires gender accord in all parts of the sentence, but at one point in his pre-local elections speech Mr Morawiecki used a feminine form with the masculine word "year". Education minister Anna Zalewska was urged during a radio interview to point out the mistake to Mr Morawiecki and had promised to do that.

KANGA DRONE

Wildlife officers in Florida sent up two drones to help search for a runaway kangaroo.

More than a dozen officers with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission were joined by state troopers and local law enforcement in the search for Storm.

The five-year-old marsupial hopped away from a home in a Jupiter Farms subdivision, where he has been raised alongside six other kangaroos. Owner Eric Westergard said Storm is laid-back unless he is startled.

FISHY BUSINESS

The father and son owners of two food processing and distribution companies in Long Island have been charged with selling over 113,000 pounds of squid falsely labelled as octopus.

Federal prosecutors announced the indictment of Roy Tuccillo Sr, 58, and Roy Tuccillo Jr, 31, both of Jericho, and their two Westbury-based companies, Anchor Frozen Foods and Advanced Frozen Foods. The defendants face conspiracy to commit wire fraud and various Lacey Act violations.

Prosecutors said the pair imported giant squid from Peru and marketed it in grocery stores across the US as octopus, which generally has a greater retail price than squid.
