CONCERT promoters have hailed the demand for Rod Stewart tickets as "huge" following the announcement he will be returning to Southampton in May.

And they urge fans to buy tickets soon or risk being disappointed.

Unlike Take That - who have just announced a second date at St Mary's stadium next May "due to demand", Rod Stewart is NOT adding a second Southampton date.

Rod Stewart Live In Concert visits Southampton’s St Mary’s Stadium on May 31 as part of a UK tour visiting visit football stadiums and outdoor venues across England and Scotland.

Promoters Cuffe and Taylor, who brought Rod to The Ageas in 2016, say the demand for tickets has been massive since they went on sale last week.

An extra date has already been added to the tour which will now see it kick off in Bristol, and Cuffe and Taylor are warning the remaining Southampton tickets will not be around for long.

Director Peter Taylor said: “We had an incredible time when we brought Rod Stewart to The Ageas a couple of years ago and it would seem those fans plus a lot more are rushing to ensure they see him again.

“We are excited to be bringing Rod to what is a new venue for us as gig promoters and look forward to welcoming his fans in May. But I would urge anyone who is still thinking about their purchase to act fast as the demand has been huge and we do not anticipate these tickets will be around for long.”

This will be Rod’s first UK tour in three years following the success of two sold-out tours in 2016 – The UK Hits Stadium Tour and the arena tour “From Gasoline Alley to Another Country Hits.”

The fully seated tour supports the release of Rod’s 30th studio album Blood Red Roses - released today (September 28).
