A GROUP of masked men burst into a shop and demanded money during a robbery in Southampton.

The three men also assaulted a woman as she tried to stop them - causing injuries to her face.

The incident took place at the Londis store on Oaktree Road, Bitterne Park, in the early hours of Thursday (October 4).

Police were called at 6.19am when three men wearing masks entered the store and demanded money.

The group took money from the safe and left the scene in the direction of Copsewood Road in a K-reg black Audi.

One woman who confronted the group was assaulted during the incident and suffered injuries to her face.

A 19-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of assault and robbery.

He has since been released but remains under investigation.
