A HAMPSHIRE marathon enthusiast has completed 21 marathons in 21 days in aid of a children's hospice.

Steve Radjen, 56, crossed the finish line at Naomi House in Winchester on September 29 after running 550 miles.

Steve was greeted with cheers from his family, friends, hospice residents and workers as well as Hampshire para-athlete Luke Sinnot who lost his legs while serving in the army in Afghanistan.

For the past three weeks Steve has been running a marathon everyday to raise money for Naomi House & Jacksplace children's hospice in aid of there 21st birthday.

After crossing the line Steve thanked everyone who had supported him along the journey.

He said: " I wanted to do something big to celebrate Naomi House's fantastic work.

"The journey has been full of highs and lows but my pain bears insignificance to giving back to those families at Naomi House.

"It's our responsibility to give back to our community."

After thanking those that have supported him Steve then cracked open a bottle of beer while his loved ones applauded him for his achievement.

A spokesperson from Naomi House told the Daily Echo that Steve has been a longstanding supporter of the hospice and that he joined the board of trustees 14 years ago in 2003.

Before beginning the challenge Steve told the Echo that from the first day he visited Naomi House he knew he wanted to do as much as he could to raise money for them.

Gerry, Steve's wife also expressed how proud she was of her husband.

She said: "He has sacrificed a lot so he can stay fit and healthy to complete this challenge.

"He hasn't been able to drink since January and he has been out running in the cold and rain.

"He has trained so hard and I am so proud of him."

Steve told the Echo that he is still £40,000 off of his target if £100,000..
