A MAN was arrested after crashing into a roundabout "at speed".

Emergency services rushed to the scene on Privett Road near the Cocked Hat Pub in Gosport at around midnight on Monday (October 9).

A spokesperson from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "He managed to self-extricate but was arrested by police."

A Hampshire police spokesperson said: "At 11.52pm on Monday, 8 October officers were called to a single vehicle collision on Privett Road, Gosport where a car was in collision with a lamppost.

"A 31-year-old man from Gosport was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level above the limit. He has been released from custody but remains under investigation."
