A SOUTHAMPTON school hosted a one day festival in a bid to raise cash. Shamrock Party in the Park was in aid of St Patrick's appeal to raise money for playground improvements. As reported the school is asking for help to help raise £100,000 to improve their "concrete jungle."

The event at Victoria House in Hamble saw dozens of stall-holders and performers entertain the public in a mini festival.

Head teacher Michael Lobo said: "It's been fantastic - much better than we expected! We have been very lucky with the weather. It's amazing the number of things that we have organised."

Organiser Kasha Davenport added: "All the security guards have given their time for free so thanks to them."

Entertainment included Karpathy Polish folk dance group Lottie J, Calum Lintott, Julie's Dance and Shine Performing Arts.
