PLANS to build six homes in a New Forest village have been withdrawn after sparking 60 objections.
The district council is no longer considering an application relating to a site currently occupied by Barberry House in Wildground Lane, Hythe.
Objectors had accused the applicant, Imperial Homes Southern, of trying to cram too many homes into the site.
They also claimed that the proposed development would create extra traffic problems in the area.
One objector wrote: “The whole scheme smacks of maximum build to get maximum profit without any consideration for the local community.”
The application was withdrawn after council planning officers described the design as “inappropriate” and likely to affect protected trees.
The officers said Imperial Homes South could come back with a “much reduced” scheme.
