TWO men have denied murder after appearing in court yesterday morning.

Sidney Cooper, 26, of no fixed abode, and Charlie Cooper, 19, of Ashby Road, Totton, both appeared at Winchester Crown Court, charged over the death of 26-year-old Courtney Jones.

Both appeared side-by-side in the dock, Charlie appearing in a grey t-shirt and Sidney in a grey jumper, while a number of people looked on from the public gallery.

As previously reported, it comes after police received reports of a serious assault at an address on Salisbury Road, Calmore, at around 7.45pm on Saturday, August 25.

The victim was transported to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

A previous hearing heard prosecutors allege that there was an attack on Mr Jones, who suffered fatal injuries.

Judge Jane Miller QC remanded the pair in custody until their trial, which is expected to start on March 5 2019 and last for between two to three weeks..
