A SOUTHAMPTON surgery has been forced to close its doors after a burst water pipe caused significant damage to its building.

Victor Street Surgery, in Shirley, will not be open today and bosses at the surgery have told patients to not come to booked appointments.

A statement on its website says: "Victor Street Surgery has had a burst water pipe over the weekend 14/10/18 causing significant damage to a large part of the building.

"We will not be opening [today] and we are currently unsure when we will be operational from the building.

Daily Echo:

"If you have an appointment booked please do not come, we will be in touch with you.

"Our surgery phone will be operational on Monday 15/10/18 but please be patient when calling through, as all our calls are being routed through to another location.

"Our GPs will be working from alternative locations and providing phone triage.  We will keep the website updated with information.

"Thank you for your patience through this difficult time."
